INTERNATIONALWithout borders is an important aspect to the YMCA philosophy. All the ideals that the YMCA lives by have come from the principals that we were founded upon and are the same throughout the globe. For this reason, international alliances are an important part of the YMCA philosophy. Developing an Asia Pacific Alliance is part of the continuation of the global exchanges that have formed part of the YMCA philosophy. 2011 represented the initial visit from South Korean students. The objectives of the camp were to allow the Korean students to experience the kiwi lifestyle, to understand and to learn the Maori culture, and to develop their English skills. Building relations with other Pacific/Asian YMCA’s is an important part of our future, and an area we expect to expand in the future. |
