Adventure Camp Holiday Programme

Wanganui YMCA Raukawa Adventure Centre runs two Holiday Programmes during each school holiday. One programme for ages 9 to 13 and one programme for ages 14 – 17.

The cost for the Holiday Programme includes travel to and from the camp, all meals, accommodation, adventure activities and a day trip. Busses leave on the Monday at 09:00 from the Wanganui YMCA at 9 Park Place and returns at 16:00 on the Friday.

The children are supervised on the bus and checked getting on and off the bus. All parents must sign their children in on the Monday morning and sign them out on the Friday afternoon.

Registration happens on a first come first serve basis.

Our programmes, are both educational and fun, are carefully planned to meet the needs and abilities of each particular age group.

Our staff is experienced in catering for children with special needs, and we encourage such children to take as active a part in the programme as possible. We would be happy to discuss with parents before booking whether the Holiday Programme would be appropriate for their child. Parents of special needs children are more than welcome to visit the YMCA Raukawa Adventure Centre and meet the instructors prior to holiday programme.

Code of Behaviour

Our Code of behaviour for our programmes are depicted in the expectations, attitude and displayed behaviour.

Camp Expectations of all holiday programme participants

  • Be respectful to self and others
  • Be responsible for your behaviour and belongings
  • Stay inside the Camp Boundary unless with leader or instructor
  • Stay out of other peoples cabins
  • Follow all instructions

Attitudinal Requirements

  • Be Positive
  • Be sensible
  • Have fun

Inappropriate Behaviour

Should you make poor choices you may:

  1. Be spoken to about the choices you are making
  2. Be put in time out
  3. Be removed from an activity
  4. In a severe case you will be sent home.

Appropriate Behaviour

The consequences of your behaviour may:

  1. Make more friends and make you a good friend
  2. Feel proud/good about yourself
  3. Earn points for your group/cabin
  4. Achieve more than you expected
